I see you're currently working in the ICU at Stanford Health. What draws you to our Emergency Department position?
I've always been passionate about emergency medicine. The fast pace and variety of cases really energize me, and I want to expand my critical care skills.
Tell me about a time you had to comfort a patient's family during a difficult situation.
Last month, I cared for a patient who didn't make it. I sat with the family, listened to their stories about him, and helped them understand we did everything possible. Being present in those moments is so important.
Your license shows you have ACLS and PALS certifications. When do they expire, and are you planning to renew?
Both expire in March 2025. I'm already registered for renewal courses in February - I always renew at least a month early to avoid any gaps.
Our ED uses Epic for charting. How comfortable are you with electronic health records?
Very comfortable - I've used Epic for 5 years and I'm actually a super user who helps train new nurses. I find good documentation is crucial for continuity of care.
We have 12-hour shifts available: 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am. Which do you prefer and why?
I prefer nights actually. I'm naturally a night owl, and I find the team dynamic on night shift is really collaborative. Plus, I can attend my daughter's school events during the day.
